The honest part
It isn't a lotion. That's why it works differently.
Whipped light · absorbs well
Lotion is mostly water. That's why it feels thin, and why you keep reapplying it. Ours has no water at all: just suet tallow, jojoba and vitamin E, whipped by hand until they're soft and airy.
Why it isn't greasy: it isn't all tallow. Many tallow balms and creams are almost entirely tallow, and those will always feel greasier. Ours pairs suet with unrefined jojoba, which your skin absorbs easily, so it sinks in instead of sitting on top.
That changes two things. You use less: a pea-sized amount covers your face. And your skin stays soft for hours. In one customer's words, it "leaves my skin feeling soft and hydrated for hours."
"Is whipped just paying for air?" No. You pay by weight, and the weight is on the label: 1 oz (28g) of balm, 2 oz (57 g) of cream. Whipping adds air, so the same amount spreads further.
"Does tallow smell like beef?" Ours has a subtle, natural scent. We use grass-fed beef suet only, a higher-quality fat, and we never deodorize or bleach it. Many tallow products use cheaper fat trimmings, which turn rancid faster and carry a strong odor. Suet doesn't. Prefer a scent? Ours has a subtle, natural scent. We use grass-fed suet only and never deodorize or bleach it. Cheaper fat trimmings are what give some tallow products a strong odor. We also make every jar fresh to order, by hand, in small batches, which is why batches sometimes sell out. Your jar hasn't sat in a warehouse or on a store shelf for years. A typical store lotion is made to last that long, which is why it needs preservatives. Our scented jars use organic essential oils only, with no synthetic fragrance.
