Our story
From our family to yours.
We're the McGonigles, a husband-and-wife team in Bozeman, Montana. We make every jar of Solura by hand, the same way we make it for our own two kids.
Solura started in our kitchen. We wanted a moisturizer simple enough for our little ones, with ingredients we could name and ranches we could drive to. That's still how we make it.

Why we started
We made it for our own skin first.
We're a family that cares a lot about what goes in and on our bodies. Sensitive skin runs on both sides of our family, so we set out to make something gentle enough for our own.
We shared jars with family and friends. They passed them on to their friends, and soon people we'd never met were asking where to buy it. That's when Solura became a company.
Every batch is stirred, whipped, and poured by hand in Bozeman.

Our tallow comes from grass-fed, grass-finished cattle raised on regenerative family ranches here in Montana, through a ranchers' co-op that includes Forward Farms (pictured). We use only the suet, the firm fat from around the kidneys. It's rendered on low heat and never bleached or deodorized.

Small batches, always fresh.
We make our products in small batches based on customer demand, so every jar reaches you fresh. A lot of skincare sits on a store shelf for months, sometimes years, before anyone opens it.
Why it costs a little more
We could buy refined, deodorized tallow from China for less.
We buy locally instead, to support organic and regenerative family farms in the United States.
